Pirate-Relay Race Ideas?

I am throwing a birthday party for my (soon to be 9) year old and its a pirate themed. I am thinking of having the kids do a relay race and I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of pirate themed stuff it can include. I was thinking of them trying to hang onto something that was hard to hold (kinda like an egg on a spoon) but am not able to thinking of anything pirate-y. Any ideas?|||You could have little "treasure chests" and divide into teams. Each child must take a spoon full of "treasure" (you can get cheap plastic coins and jewelry) and put it in his corresponding treasure chest. First one to fill it up wins.





You could have a three legged race.





You could have them shoot dart guns at targets with one eye covered by an eye patch.





You could pin the peg leg on the pirate, or pin the eye patch on the pirate (and have a blown up picture of the party child).





You could have a rope swing.





You could have an obstacle course with the rope swing as part of it (swinging across the aligator swamp or some such).
