Why are Kenyans traditionally so talented at sprint and relay races?

I was wondering how Kenyans are practically the elites when it comes to 100-meter dashes and marathons and any sport that involves running.|||Correction: Kenyans are very poor at short distances. That field is left to Americans and Jamaicans. Kenyans excel in Long Distance Competitions. Those Kenyan runners you see winning work very hard at what they do. They train hard - covering long distances every day. A good number of them have a joined the army, prison service and so on in order to practice. The competition is very stiff since there is a lot of money in it.

I have on occasion heard TV and Radio commentators speak of 'natural' strength and wondered what else one could legally rely on to perform.|||They train with a lion chasing them !!!

Sorry, cruel joke.
