Relay race thing?

I am helping organize a fun day potluck. Anyway I have two questions. We are doing a Relay. Which is where everybody splits into two even teams. [last year we did pumpkin relay] Anyway anyone who started when around the arena once with the pumpkin trick or treating bucket, and then returned to their team facing a different way and we did that for everyone. And whoevers team was done first won. Anyway I decided to make something this year to pass on. I was going to decorate a horsehoe [ a actual horseshoe] but decided if it fell and hit a horses leg or something it could do damage. So what should i do? I have to make two and they have to be easy to pass on and not injure a horse if it falls.

Any ideas?|||How about a giant dog pull? like, a thick piece of rope with a knot in each end?|||Make a paper mache horseshoe! You can make it whatever size you want, and paint it like a real one!

Or a riding crop, or even a bucket with grain, for added difficulty!|||make a cardboard one and paint it and tie a whole lotta ribbons and stuff on it.|||Use PVC pipe to make a baton. Easy to decorate, light weight, and you can make them a little longer to make it easy to pass.

Have fun!|||Use a bean bag, call it a patatoe, much safer.|||Use foam!!! Easy to decorate and cannot injure horses.
